St John Rigby Primary

Head Teacher Michele McGettigan

It is a real honour and a privilege to welcome you to St John Rigby Catholic Primary School.

My name is Mrs Michele McGettigan and I joined the school in 2013 as a Year 5 teacher. I worked as an Assistant Head Teacher before taking the role of Interim Head Teacher in June 2018 and being appointed Headteacher in May 2019.

At St John Rigby, the excitement and responsibility in nurturing the gifts and talents of each and every one of our children is something that drives our day to day work. It goes so much further than their attainment in English and Maths (although these are important) in that we must develop our children on their journey as lifelong learners, knowing that this is the way in which they will fulfil God’s plan for them. The prophet Micah reminds us that what God wants us to do is

To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly

This underpins the way in which we work with His precious children here at St. John Rigby whether it be in the classroom, in the playground, in the Christmas Nativity or on the sports field.
